Want to give a name to someone without forgetting whether or not you gave them a name? You just might soon be able to as Name Tags are currently in development and will come to Minecraft Pocket Edition in the foreseeable future.
What are Name Tags?
If you play any other video games then you know what a Name Tag is. A Name Tag is an item that can be used to name mobs that are passive, neutral or hostile. Once named, that text will appear above the mob. You can name people, animals, monster anywhere, so that you would never forget them.
How does it work?
In order for a name tag to have an effect on mobs, you first need to rename it with an anvil which will cost you XP (Experience points). You can name a mob as many number of times but once a mob is named, they will use up that name tag.
Here is a cool thing with naming. In Minecraft PC, it has been found that naming a mob “Dinnerbone” or “Grimm” will turn a mob upside down. Maybe that will work on the Pocket Edition as well.
Name tags, besides being fun as little easter eggs, are useful in that a named mob will be restricted from despawning. Despawning means that when you go far away, mobs that you aren’t keeping track when disappear, and their ID would also be gone. This is not the case if you name them. This way you don’t have to worry about going too far or being gone for a while only to return to that pig you wanted to keep, gone.
More info will be updated as soon as they come out by your boy iGazen. Be sure to subscribe to MCPEbox.com to be the first to know all about it.
